Hazyview God's window Panorama Route

Hazyview

Hazyview is a relatively small, sub-tropical farming town in South Africa. Renowned for its large banana and macadamia nut industries, contributing about 20% of South Africa’s bananas and 30% of macadamia output. Bordering the Kruger National Park, the town’s name is derived from the shimmering haze that occurs during the heat of summer. Most of the province of Mpumalanga’s private game reserves are found just east of the town.

Situated in the slopes of the Drakensberg Mountain Range; the town was established in 1959 when the post office was built. The history of gold that was found in the area played an important role in the establishment of Hazyview as the Selati Railway Line was built due to this.

This sleepy town is 5 kilometers from Phabeni Gate which leads into the Kruger National Park. A gateway to the popular Kruger National Park, it boasts an enviable location in South Africa’s lowveld, surrounded by a staggering number of both natural and historic sites. Hazyview is also a stop on the Panorama Route, a scenic road. It is also situated 60 km from Mbombela.

Although a laidback and sleepy town, Hazyview remains the regional hub for adventure sports, with numerous agencies river offering rafting, quad biking, elephant riding, helicopter trips, and various other activities. On a Hazyview holiday, you can spend your time visiting some of the nearby game reserves, farms, waterfalls, and animal sanctuaries.

These include Elephant Whispers, Skyway Trails, Elephant Herd Safaris, Long Tom Toboggan, Misty Mountains Quad biking, White Water Tubing and River Rafting.
